Upper Nuimi District Tourney Kicks Off Saturday

A district tournament organised by the Upper Nuimi Sports Committee is scheduled to kick off on Saturday at the Nuimi Lamin football ground with a match between Albreda and Toubakolong.

The tournament, solely sponsored by Honorable Cherno Omar Jallow the National Assembly member for the area, will feature 21 teams from surrounding villages.

Bai Dodou Jallow chairman of the interim sports committee of Upper Nuimi informed Pointsport that the 21 teams expected to take part in the championship have been divided in to four groups of five with one having six.  He said as part of the tournament, the National Assembly of the area presented an amount of D15, 000 with two trophies.

He explained that during the tournament the winner would go home with a giant trophy and cash prize of D7, 000 while the runners-up will receive D4, 000 with a trophy.

He said the opening is expected to be graced by 5 Secretaries of State namely; Secretary of State for Fisheries Yankuba Touray, Ousman Sonko of Interior, Momodou Koto Cham of the Environment and Natural Resources, Ousman Jammeh of Petroleum and Head of the civil Service and Mass Axi Gye of Youth and Sports.

He added that President of the Gambia Football Association, Members of Parliament and Chiefs will also grace the opening.
Lamin, Kerr Mama, Mamuda, Kerr Alpha and Kabakoto are the five different centres that will host the tournament.

The Sunday thriller will include Juffereh and Lamin.
