In what could be best described as an incentive of staff motivation and growth, the country’s leading telecommunication company, Gamtel, has again accorded two of its staff the opportunity to win tickets for a pilgrimage to Mecca (or Rome if they were Christians).
Cordu Faal and Momodou S. Ann, both staff members of Gamtel, won the hajj tickets through a raffle draw Gamtel conducts annually for staff members.
“If the winner was a Christian, he or she would have been sent to Rome,” Gamtel’s Public Relations Manager Amadou Touray said recently at the presentation ceremony, adding that Gamtel does not discriminate against anybody.
For Mr Touray and the company’s MD Omar Pateh Ndow, and of course, the entire Gamtel, blessed is the hand that giveth… They believe it is in giving out that one receives.
“Therefore, we deem it fit to embark on such activities annually, so as to encourage and appreciate the good work of our staff members,” Mr Touray said.
Whilst encouraging other staff members to continue their diligent work to promote the company for the good of the nation and the economy, PRM Touray congratulated the winners and wished them divine guidance and success on their pilgrimage to the holy land of Mecca.
“Gamtel has been involved in many social functions and this raffle is one of our social responsibilities. The money spent is part of the profits realised by the company. Therefore, if customers settle their bills, they contribute to national development,” Mr Touray said.
He therefore calls on the public to always pay their bills, and on time. “It is from the bills and proceeds that Gamtel spends to meet the socio-economic needs of the nation,” he advised.
