The Gambia Football Coaches Association, in collaboration with the Gambia Referee Association last Sunday, November 12th, held a one-day seminar to dilate on the way to improve the league season as the 2006/07 campaign draws nearer.
Speaking at the one-day gathering, Alhagi Sillah, the head coach of Gamtel FC challenged his colleagues to learn the laws of the game so as to ensure its right interpretations. Coach Sillah also urged his fellow coaches to see referees as partners in the game, adding that referees should also be forthright in executing their duties and be prepared to admit mistakes.
Mr Badou Jasseh, the Chairman of The Gambia Referees’ Association, described coaches and referees as role models who should always live up to expectations.
Like coach Sillah Jasseh also challenged both parties to be knowledgeable in the laws of the game thereby ensuring right interpretations at all times.
Other speakers at ceremony included Mr Abdul Salaam Jammeh, the CAF Education Officer at the GFA Secretariat, who described the forum as a significant milestone in the development of football in the country.
Mr Jammeh also said that football is getting more important tan ever, adding that such an open and frank forum will undoubtedly inspire others into the game.
