Mustapha Lowe, one of the accused persons, also a nephew of Col Ndure Cham, Ex-Chief of Defence Staff, charged with treason and conspiracy has finally been released after all charges preferred against him were dropped.

Mr Lowe, a student of Gambia College, has been standing trial since March 21 abortive coup, led by his uncle, Ndure Cham, who is thought to be at large. Lowe had appeared before the court and made startling revelations as a witness.

During his testimony, he told the court that Ndure Cham, is his uncle and that he spent a night at his (Lowe’s) house, before proceeding to the neighbouring Senegal. He also revealed that he was being given some assignments by his uncle to carry out and he duly did so, claiming to be threatened to be killed, should he fail to execute the assignments.

According to the defence council, who preferred a state of anonymity, they have received a notice from the state prosecutor stating that charges preferred against Mr Lowe, were all dropped. The defence council further asserted that Mustapha Lowe has since been released from custody, after being used as a witness in the court hearing.
