Guaranty Trust Bank has given a cheque for D50,000 as their contribution to the National U-20 team.

Handing the cheque to the GFA officials at a presentation yesterday, Mr Muhammed Gillen, the Deputy General Manager of the Bank, said his bank is a youth bank that is pleased to associate itself with the development of youth and sports.
“The token is our own contribution towards Congo trip. We wish the team all the best of luck and we hope come February. We will meet the team with the coveted trophy,” he said.

Receiving the cheque, Col Lang Tombong Tamba, the First-Vice President of Gambia Football Association said GT’s gesture is commendable.
He also thanked the bank for allowing the football association to open a fund-raising campaign account with them for the Congo trip.

He said: ”This support will go a long way in fostering the existing relationship between the bank and the football association.
Government cannot do it alone and the support and co-operation of the general public and the private sector are important”.

Citing the 2005 U-17 success as example, Col Tamba said, sports is a very good medium to sell the good name of the country to wider world.
