Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) of The Gambia Tuesday defeated their finish guests, by 92-58 in a friendly basketball game played at the YMCA premises on MDI Road, Kanifing. The friendly match was part of activities meant to entertain the Finish guests who arrived in the country on a relations-building visit to their Gambian counterparts.

Speaking to Observer Sport shortly after the keenly-contested match, Mr Pounce, Sport Coordinator YMCA, said the game was meant to strengthen the long-standing sporting programmer that exists between the two sister-institutions which share the same objectives. He said the game was meant to add more icing to their friends visit to The Gambia.

For his part, Mr Patrick, one of the Finish guests, said their visits to the Smiling Coast of Africa was not only to extend sporting programme, but also to strengthen the mutual cooperation and understanding that exist between the two institutions that struck out a twining programme far back in 1979. He commended his hosts for the warm hospitality extended to his team since their arrival.

Mr Foday Singhateh, Head coach for The Gambia YMCA basketball team said winning the match is not important but participation matters.
