Alhaji Buba Sahor, a notable Air Transport economist cum founder and C.E.O. of Continental Travels, has described the current fare structure of most airlines operating into and out of the country as not only exorbitant but unacceptable, citing that 55% reduction on handling and landing charges should reflect in the fair structure of the airlines.

In an interview with this reporter at his Kotu office, the apparently distraught and irritated Mr. Sahor expressed the need for a strategic mechanism to be put in place for the purpose of ensuring an urgent review of ticket prices of airlines. He added that since the exchange rate of foreign currencies are dwindling by the day thanks to the upward spiral in the value of the Dalasi, the airlines and travel agencies have no genuine reason of upping their prices. 

“The air handling and landing fees were reduced by 55%. Yet still the airlines fares have not come down. Rather they are still going up,” he fumed.

For the Continental Travels boss, the aviation industry should have taken favourable advantage given them by the Gambia government by revising cost of their tickets so as to better serve their travelling clientele. He therefore accused the airlines of greed and exploitation, calling them to put the interest of their customers before egoistic interest.
