The National Scorpions Fans Club are gearing up to support the Gambia Scorpions in the forthcoming Amílcar Cabral Zone II Championship in Guinea Bissau.

The eight-team biannual championship, is scheduled between November 22 to December 4, 2007, in the former Portuguese colony, and if all things work well for the National fans club, The Gambia would be fully represented at the regional football tournament for West African nations.

Momodou Sanyang, Public Relations Officer of the fans club told Observer Sports that his Executive Committee are doing all they can to facilitate the  movement of the fans to cheer up the boys in Bissau.
“We want to be in Bissau to cheer-up the team and at our own expenses. Nonetheless, we will solicit support from both the private and public institutions,” he said.

“We are National fans and our main objective, is to give moral support to all categories of the National teams during national and international matches.”

The Scorpions fans club have earlier made two successful outings to cheer-up the Scorpions, thanks to the Gambian benevolent leader, Dr Alhaji Yahya Jammeh.
In the 2005, FIFA Under 17 World Cup finals in Peru, The Gambia’s Under 17 team played with over 200 fans behind them in the South American country.

The Gambia Under 20 team were not also left to fight it out alone at the 2007 CAF U-20 Championships in Congo, after President sponsored 150 supporters to cheer up the team.
