It is official. The Senegalese mbalax maestro Thione Balago Seck and the Raam Daan Band are due to jet into the country to stage a three-day musical extravaganza starting Friday 19 October 2007.
The much-talked about musical fiesta, which is codenamed “Koriteh Hawareh” is conceived and organized by Champion Sounds under the charismatic leadership of DJ Lamin Cham.
In chat with this paper, the no –nonsense internationally -renowned DJ said that Thione Seck and his star-studded band will be coming to town this time around with lots of surprising and scintillating packages including a brand new album.
He further revealed that during the three-day musical jamboree, Thione will be sharing the same stage with a lined up of highly-rated home stars.
“Thione is gearing-up for what could be best described as an ‘explosive musical splash’ first time of its kind in the Smiling Coast of the Gambia,” says DJ Lamin Cham.
Cham went on to inform this paper that they are now putting finishing touches to give Thione and the delegation a welcome befitting a king.
“As you may know, Thione Seck has a worldwide reputation for singing and playing the right vibes and tunes that will entice and stimulate any dying soul. So this is all the more reason why we always invite him to come and perform in The Gambia, “he enthused.
For DJ Lamin Cham, music lovers particularly the avid fans of Thione Seck should take favourable advantage of this eagerly-awaited splashdown by attending concert en masse.
