As part of its move towards the formation of a new national U-17 team for the nation, The Gambia Football Association will stage a national U-17 zonal selection tournament which will kick off on Saturday December 15 2007, featuring Central River Region and Upper River Region in Basse.

Sunday’s encounter will feature North Bank Region and Lower River Region in Farafenni.

According to Seedy MB Kinteh, President of the Gambia Football Association, the FA officials will be on the ground to over see the selection process.

He added that the date for selection process for teams in the Greater Banjul area will be confirmed today.

It could be recalled that The Gambia failed to defend its title after not being able to make it in the qualifiers for Togo 2007 when they where eliminated by neighbors, Senegal despite being champions of the 2005 U-17 championship held in Banjul.
