The proposed President’s Olive Branch Relay which was scheduled for Thursday, March 15, 2007 has been cancelled, press release from the organisers-The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has revealed.

According to a release, signed by Mr George Gomez, Executive Director, Gambia National Olympic Committee, the event can no longer take place because His Excellency the President, of the Republic, Dr Alhagi Yahya Jammeh, will not be able to attend.

The release added that companies that have paid for their participation fee for the programme can either hold it against their fee for the May Day Sports festival or request for a refund.

“Any inconvenience caused by this cancellation is deeply regretted,” the release concluded.
