Yankuba Touray, Secretary of State for Fisheries and Water Resources, Friday March 23 inaugurated a new bore hole in Galleh Mandah, a village in the CRR South.
In his speech, SoS Touray highlighted the importance of water stating that without water, life would not be possible. SoS Touray urged the people of Galleh Manda, especially the water committee to maintain the taps for sustainability, noting that the number of taps installed is what the borehole can cater for and no further addition for individuals is allowed.
Alhagie Amulai Janneh, Governor of CRR also spoke on the importance of water, adding that 75% of the human body is water, therefore without water to worship Allah in the usual way will not be possible.
Governor Janneh urged the people of the water committee to keep an eye on the solar panels as Galleh Manda is not far from the border and as such they should be careful so they are not stolen. Governor Janneh stressed the need for a watchman for the area.
Chief Biran Baldeh thanked the sponsors, as water is a necessity, adding that President Jammeh has concern for his people.
Chief Baldeh appealed to SoS Touray for the rehabilitation of their feeder road which links Galleh Manda to the main road.
In a similar development, SoS Touray and entourage visited the meteorological station at Sapu and the aqua-culture centre under construction at Jahally Pacharr led by the NARI Station Manager, Sulayman Jallow and James Tsay, the Taiwanish leader.
Hon Touray was accompanied by the Director of Water Resources, Pa Ousman Jarju, Project Co-ordinator EC/EDF Morro Ceesay, Head of Rural Water Supply, Alhagie Jabbie, hydrologist, Bai Lamin Sillah and John Ndow, a meteorologist.
