Taiwanese agricutural experts arrive

A seven-member delegation from Taipei in Taiwan comprising experts in agricultural policy , engineering, marketing and production on Thursday arrived in the country for a week-long visit.

Upon arrival in the country, the delegation accompanied by the Taiwanese Ambassador to The Gambia, Dr Patrick Chang, paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Kanja Sanneh.

Speaking to the Daily Observer last Friday, Ambassador Chang, said the delegation is on a fact-finding mission, which will enable them to make possible assessment and proposal on the way forward for The Gambia’s agricultural development.

He expressed the hope that during the course of the delegation’s stay in the country, they will collect pertinent information for the assessment.

According to him, they have discussed with the authorities on how The Gambia can attain its food self-sufficiency and also to obtain some capital base for farmers.

The delegation will leave for Taiwan this week.
