According to reports monitored over GRTS last evening, President Yahya Jammeh, acting on powers vested in him under section 168 of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia, has appointed Mr. Ousman Jammeh as Secretary-General and Head of the Civil Service with effect from Monday, 2nd April 2007.

Mr. Jammeh replaces Mrs. Elizabeth Harding, who has been re-deployed to the Foreign Service as High Commissioner.
