Monday, May 28, 2007

The 2000 Gambia Football Association National League title winners, Real De Banjul, continue a good run in the 2006-2007 Division one league.

The city boys, who went through a poor running at the middle of the first round of the league resulting to the resignation of their head coach Sireh Ndoye, bounced back since Musa Njie took over as team coach.

After humiliating Steve Biko 3-1 and upsetting Armed Forces 1-0 in the last encounters of the first round, Real de Banjul collected nine (9) points in the first three matches of the second round.

After beating Seaview 1-0 in week ten played on Sunday May 20th, Real De Banjul collected other vital points three day later when they beat Gamtel on the same score.

On Saturday, Real De Banjul made a good move toward their league title chase by beating again Armed Forces 1-0 in a well contested game played at the Banjul Mini Stadium in week twelve encounter.

Real De Banjul now led the table with 26 points in 12 games played.

In another game of the week 12 played on Saturday at the Independence Stadium, Steve Biko drew 1-1 with Gamtel.

The encounter between GPA and Bakau United scheduled to take place at the Banjul Mini Stadium last evening, has been postponed.
