Superintendent Famara Jorbateh, the Public Relations Officer of The Gambia Police Force, has confirmed to the Daily Observer  the appointment of Momodou Gaye as the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police. Mr. Gaye replaces Ousman Sanneh, who died recently at the RVTH, after a short illness.

According to the Police Spokesman, the new Deputy Inspector-General of Police was first enrolled into the then Gambia National Gendarmerie in 1982, and rose through the ranks until its amalgamation into the Police Force in 1993.

Mr. Gaye later became the head of the then Drug Squad Unit of the Police until the setting up  of an autonomous drug control body, called the National Drug Enforcement Agency, where he held one of the key positions.
