Karantaba LBS, UBS embark on enrolment campaign

Staff of Karantaba Lower Basic and Upper Basic Schools have, recently concluded a week-long awareness campaign on child enrolment in Sami District of the Central River Region.

The team comprised of the Principal of the Lower Basic Demba Dem, Bakary Sambou, Principal of the Upper Basic, teachers of the two  schools, Parent Teachers Association members and the  Cluster Monitor for the area, Sarjo Sanyang.

The team toured Karantaba Wollof, Torro, Tabokoto, Tenda, Dutokoto, Tandi Mandinka, Bayaba, Tandi Barra, Demfai, Raneru, Tabanani, Madiana, Forry, Sami Pachonki, Sami Madina  amongst others.
 
Speaking at the ceremony, Bakary Sambou, Principal of Karantaba Upper Basic School, encouraged parents to send their children to school for a brighter future. He said the children’s future can best be guaranteed if they are educated. He then challenged parents to stop  giving out  their daughters into forceful or early marriage   when they are  still attending  school. Sambou appealed to the parents to encourage their children to study at home and work hard towards improving their academic performance.
 
For his part, Sarjo Sanyang, Cluster Monitor of the area, advised parents who cannot afford to pay their children’s school fees to discuss the issue of sponsorship with the principal. He revealed that they are also campaigning to get a senior secondary school in Sami District.

Saikou Jawla, Alkalo of Tandi Mandinka, expressed appreciation to the team and promise them that they will heed the advice given to them.
