Nite Life African International Organisation, based in Sweden, is planning to Organise a six- week U-17 female Football tournament targeting girls from Upper and Senior secondary schools in Banjul and Kombo.
Speaking to Pointsport, Joseph P. Decker, one of the organisers, said that the idea of coming up with such a tournament was conceived by Dawda Ndure, Jilly Jonasson and himself adding that the aim of the tournament is to contribute their quota towards the development of female football in the Gambia specially in the school system.
Mr. Decker revealed that eight schools would take part in the championship, in which six would come from Banjul while two would be drawn from the Kombo.
He added that the tournament will commence in the second week of October and would be played in a league format.
“The winner would be awarded a trophy and cash prize of D5, 000 whilst the runner up will receive D3, 000,” he revealed.
Mr. Decker also pointed out that plans are also underway to link the winning school with another in Sweden, which would give them the possibility to attend the Gothia Cup in Sweden.
“The Gorthia Cup garters more than 1500 youth Football teams from all over the World,” he concluded.
