Gambia-Saller deal terminated

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

A four-year sponsorship deal, signed between the Gambia Football Association and the German- based Sports firm, Saller Sports has been terminated, Observer Sports has reliably gathered. Source close to the Gambia Football Association has confirmed the termination of the contract, adding that The Gambia has requested for immediate termination of the deal, after their partner (Saller Sports) failed to honour the contract.

When contacted to shed more light on the matter, both the President and Secretary-General of the Gambia Football Association could not be reached for comment.

Malick Camara, Saller Sports’ agent in The Gambia could not also be reached for comment at the time of going to press last night.

The Gambia and Saller’s relations started in 2005, when the latter, based on ‘gentleman’ agreement, dressed The Gambia U-17 team during the FIFA U-17 World Finals in Peru 2005 and African U-20 Championships in Congo Brazzaville.

Shortly after the Congo Championship, The Gambia and Saller Sports put pen-on-paper for a four-year deal that would have seen Saller Sports kits all categories of the National teams during the period.

However, one of the parties is said to be unhappy with the partnership, hence the termination of the contract. A clause in the signed deal allows any of the parties to pull out of the deal, after a three-month notice.
