Sport Journalists Commend President Jammeh, Others

The Executive Committee of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG) has expressed a great appreciation and thanks to His Excellency Dr Alhagie Yahya A .J. J Jammeh, President if the Republic of The Gambia, for exposing and raising the level of Sport Journalism in The Gambia.

The committee also commended individuals, companies and institutions, who have for the past three years contributed to the championing of Sports Journalism in The Gambia.

The Press release sent to Pointsport reads:

The Sport Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG) the umbrella body in Charge of the welfare of all Sport Journalists in the country, recently held its Triennial Congress in which a new executive committee has been put in place to look into the affairs of the Association for the next three years.

However, the Sport Journalists Association of The Gambia (SJAG) recognise the important role stakeholders in Gambian sports have played in our success over the past three years. We surely can catalogue our success in terms of training, news coverage, international recognition and participation in regional gatherings.

We needed the tireless support you gave to the Association during this period which has no doubt resulted to a successful three years of coordination of sports affairs in the country despite numerous constraints.

We wish to thank specially, His Excellency the President Dr Alhagie Yahya A. J. J Jammeh for exposing and raising the level Sport Journalism in the Gambia.

We commend all media houses in the country, the Gambia Football Association, The Gambia National Olympic Committee, Zonal Committees, Beatrice Allen IOC Member, Salifu K. Jaiteh Honorary Consul of Cyprus, GAMCO, Seedy MB Kinteh, OB Conateh Vice-president of WAFU, Brigadier General Lang Tombong Tamba, National Sport Associations, Department of State for Youths, Sports and Plymouth Banjul Challenge for the support.
