Please allow me space in your widely read newspaper to express my concern about the on going crisis in Kenya.
In Africa whenever civil strife breaks up the belegerants jump up with endless claims of fighting for the people, whose suffering they in fact eventually preside over. This scenario is what is eminent in Kenya.
In the name of tribal interest, a beautiful country is being robbed of its glorious character. As if enough carnage hasn’t been seen yet. It is not Mwai Kibaki or Raila Odunga whose family members are suffering, it is those who stand to gain absolutely nothing, who in fact has nothing to do with the problem, that are paying the prize for what is going on.
Indications are that current talks is a nonstarter. Kenya’s political leaders have done enough to demonstrate their unreadiness for a peaceful settlement. Now the fate of the millions of Kenyans stuck between the claws of greedy politicians are in the hands of the international community.
