Tuesday, January 22, 2008

In a bid to make banking more convenient and efficient for its customers and the Gambia at large, Trust Bank Gambia Limited has introduced a new SMS banking service in the country.

The new service, according to Mr Dodou Nyang, Manager Sales and Marketing Trust Bank, will revolutionise accessibility to the bank forever. “It will change the way you relate to your bank through your mobile phone,” he said.

In an interview with The Point, Mr Nyang noted that the service will also allow customers to view their bank balance, last five transactions, foreign exchange rates and also allow customers to transfer funds between their accounts.

“Another exciting aspects that will impact greatly on the lives of most of our people is hat you will be able to through the SMS banking service, buy your cash power from NAWEC and top up your credit through your operator,” he said, adding that this will have a socio-economic impact on the lives of many Gambians and no-Gambians alike.

The Trust Bank Marketing Managing gave the assurance that as far as security is concerned, the main guiding principle from the outset has been the issue of security and confidentiality. “As a bank, these are to be expected but we still want to reiterate that security is guaranteed. Customers will be given four-digit PIN numbers to access the service. These numbers can be changed as and when they wish and it is specific to their mobile numbers, their account number and mobile operator,” he said, noting that this service will impact more on the lives of the people than any other banking product in recent times.
