Friday, February 1, 2008

The Women’s Bureau, under the UNDP/UNDAF Support to Governance and Human Rights Project, will today implement a project called “capacity enhancement for women in decision making”.

According to the Executive Director of the Women’s Bureau, Mrs. Ida Faye Hydara, the aim of the project is to obtain the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) 3, equality and empowerment of women in decision making.

She added that the project has four components including the training of women in politics, leadership and public awareness of the social benefits of women’s participation in decision making and the establishment of regional information centres.

She further said that a consultant has been hired to conduct a nationwide capacity assessment of women in decision making.

She concluded by saying that the capacity assessment report has been finalised and a zero draft report submitted for validation by stakeholders.
