In the Diamond Case, Counsel Makes No Case Submission

Monday, February 11, 2008

When the NIA diamond case was mentioned on the 4th of February 2008 before Principal Magistrate Buba Jawo of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, the State Counsel A.S. Umar told the court that lawyer Jobarteh, counsel for some of the former NIA operatives, was going to make no case submission before the court.

He further said that the accused persons and lawyer Jobarteh were absent and, as a result, he applied to the court to adjourn the case so as to enable lawyer Jobarteh to make a case of no submission.

Magistrate Buba Jawo granted the application and adjourned the case to the 13th of February 2008.

The six former NIA officers were charged with stealing, criminal trespass and abuse of office.
