Bravo commander Bojang, Gambia police

Editor,

Please allow me space in your widely respectable news media to express my views on the remarkable development going on at a particular section of the Gambia Police Force. The police band is an essential component of the armed forces of every nation, and the Gambian is no exception.

But when it comes to developing the human resource of the police, there has always been the tendency that they are forgotten. But the Gambia police band has been undergoing such a development that I feel obliged to put pen to paper and give complement to where it belongs.

The public might have realized a change in the performance of the band, but I will be judged by my conscience if I do not voice out how I feel. And I must single out the force behind this outstanding performance. This is no other than the able commander, ASA Ebrima Bojang, who took over the office from Commander Mbye Jobe in 2002.

Since then, members of the band now feel part and parcel of the force. For the first time in the history of the Gambia police band, out of Forty Seven personnel, Forty Four were promoted to various ranks.

During Bojang’s tenor in office, band personnel have started going for peace keeping mission. And most importantly, they have even won the public confidence. We definitely appreciate their performance.  I think ASP Bojang’s administration should be supported by every patriotic Gambian.

I also want to say a big bravo to ASP Bojang for composing a lot of local songs. All what this giant needs now is the support from the high command of the Gambia police force. Before, the band personnel used to carry a rank for fifteen years without promotion.  But now that is a thing of the past. Even the president, His Excellency, Alh. Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, is surely appreciative of Bojang’s administration effort towards national development.
