Jatta’s FC were the winners of the 2008 Super Cup final of the Lamin Nawettan zone, which was played on Sunday at the Sanna Jatta Memorial Football Field.

They defeated Lamin Lodged 1-0 in a well-contested game with Jatta’s Ebou Colley scoring the only goal of the game in the 59th minute.

As super cup champions, Jatta’s were awarded a trophy.

Speaking shortly before the game, Lamin Camara, chairman of the Lamin Sports Committee, said the proceeds of the game will be given to the family of Late Sanna Jatta, a veteran Gambian Referee who passed away 16 years ago.

Mr. Camara stated that for the past 16 years the committee has been assisting the family of Sanna, who contributed immensely towards the development of sports in Lamin as well as refereeing in The Gambia.

He pointed out that this year, Lamin will not allow divisional players to play in the Nawettan. The reason, he said, is because they want to promote young talented players. This will give them the opportunity to surface in the limelight.
