At least 345 Senegalese students, including officials from Senegal, last Friday paid a visit to the Inspector General of police, Mr. Ensa Badgie, at the police headquarters in Banjul. The aim was to strengthen the relationship between the two sister countries. The students were said to be on their annual summer holiday, commonly known as VACANS, in The Gambia. Most of students said their parents are police officers or in the fire services.

In his welcoming statement, the Inspector General of police Mr. Ensa Badgie said the two sister countries share a lot of common cultures and that Senegal and Gambia have a long standing relationship.

He affirmed that this visit to his office shows how much commitment Senegalese people have for Gambian people. IGP Badgie therefore pledged D2000 on behalf of his office as their contribution for their visit to his office.

In her statement, the head of mission Yassin Faal told Inspector General of Police that the trip is part of the relationship between the two countries. She said most of the children present have parents that are service men and women that is “why we make our trip to your office to say hello to you and your personnel.”  “As IGP said, The Gambia and Senegal are all the same people, the same family almost the same culture so we feel we were in our homes still,” she said.

The occasion was graced by the security chiefs DIG Modou Gaye, PRO ASP Sulayman Secka, Edward Sambou commisioner of finance and the other security chiefs
