Gambia’s reigning reggae king, Freaky Joe Aka Sing-a-Teh today left for the United Kingdom (UK) for the promotion of his second album entitled Rejoice.

This historic trip is sponsored by Africell and Global Properties.

In a chat with Entertainment last Monday, Freaky Joe said his purpose of going to the UK is to promote his second album, which will be release later this year. He noted that the album contains fourteen tracks and is in both CD and cassette format.

Some of the songs produced by Freaky Joe are presently enjoying prime airplay on local radio stations.

Showing no sign of slowing down, Freaky Joe is striving relentlessly to put finishing touches to his fourteen-track debut album. Intermingle with Reggae Dance-hall, Hip pop and Mbalax is expected to be a hot and tasty musical meal when it hit the music market. Freaky Joe explained that he has already completed recording all the songs in the album.

Freaky Joe, who could not hide his thankfulness to his sponsors, namely: Africell, Global Properties, MA Finance, RUE Chicken and Central Beauty, equally sent special thanks to his fans in the US, noting that the full support he got from them encouraged him more into music.

Freaky Joe who started music in 2002 has no doubt achieved a lot.

In 2005 he released his first album entitled “For The Gambia, Our Home Land”, featuring some prominent Gambia musicians like Jaliba Kuyateh, and Sambou Susso. He’d travelled and continues to travel widely to the western countries, especially in the United States where he has his large fans. He’d also travelled to Germany, Sweden, Austria and the UK. Comparing the Gambian music with other countries, the young king of reggae voiced that Gambia is still lagging behind.

“Before one should push music to higher level, there should be laws that will guide and support every artist's work,” he remarked.
