The Gambia Investment Promotion and Free Zone Agency (GIPZA) in collaboration with the World Bank on Tuesday organised a day’s training workshop on the theme “Managing for Results’’ at a ceremony held at the Sheraton Hotel in Brufut.
Speaking at the event, Kebba T Njie, chief executive officer, GIPZA, said the training is critical to their ability to improve the investment climate in The Gambia.
Also speaking, Ronnie Hammand, an expert in monitoring and evaluation at the World Bank, said the training is part of the World Bank’s commitment to improve the impact of their projects and programs on the lives of Gambians. This, he said, is one of a series of training programs to support project leaders in managing for results.
In an interview with the Daily Observer, shortly after the training, Saikou Kinteh, a participant from GIPZA, said the training was an interactive session and it helped them to share knowledge with people from different institutions.
“This training helped us to better understand the concept of project management and monitoring and also to manage a project in a timely manner,” he said.
Binta Macos Hydara, a participant from the Department of Finance, said the training helped them to improve on the management, implementation and monitoring of projects.
