Intercontinental Airways Dragged to Court

One Captain Walter Okakpu on Friday 28thNovember sued the Intercontinental Airways at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, claiming $31, 051.35 or its equivalent in dalasis being salaries, benefits and remuneration due from the defendant to the plaintiff.

This is in respect of the contract of employment made between the plaintiff and the defendant on or about 20thMay 2008, appointing the plaintiff as Managing Director of the defendant. The plaintiff also claimed damages, interest and costs.

The representative of the defendant informed the court that the Chief Executive Officer told him that they had agreed to pay the plaintiff $21, 000.

Senior Magistrate Mbackeh, who presided over the case, ordered the defendant to pay the plaintiff in the meantime $10, 000. He added that since the case involved an employer and an employee, he was going to transfer it to the Industrial Tribunal to be presided over by Senior Magistrate Sainabou Wadda-Ceesay.

Lawyer Joseph Joof represented the plaintiff.
