Isha exhibits at Sheraton

Isha Fofana,the erudite Gambian female artist of our time, exhibited her artistic works at the Sheraton Hotel, on Brufut high way.

The exhibition is expected to last from 28th March through 30th  April, 2009 and its first exhibition organised by the renowned Gambian artist based in Germany for the past couple of decades. The works displayed on hangers in the reception hall of Sheraton Hotel, were dedicated to Gambian women, in honour of their invaluable and untiring support and contributions towards development in all aspects of life in The Gambia.

Isha Fofana, the coordinator and proprietor of Mama Africa Arts Gallery, located in Brusubi, few yards from the turn table, in a short and précised chat with the Arts and Culture at the site of the exhibition, spoke about her life as a professional artist as well as the reasons for the arts exhibition, among others.

According to her,the exhibition is meant to showcase and expose her artistic talents to Gambians, after herlong stay in Germany, where she held numerous exhibitions and established an art gallery called Mama Africa.She gave a detailed narration of her deep sense of appreciation and gratitude to Gambian women for their spirited and valuable contribution towards national development.

The Gambian artist seized the opportunity to reveal plans to organise more arts exhibitions in the course of her stay in the country. In attendance at the event were the Taiwaness ambassador to the Gambia; UN residence representative in the Gambia; Fatim Badjie, ex SoS for Communication, Information and Information Technology, among host of other dignitaries.
