Jamisa Community Association Lift Saamasang Inter-Community TourneyWednesday, August 19, 2009
Jamisa Community Association FC on Sunday 16th August 2009, emerged champions of Saamasang Inter-community Football Tourney after thrashing Kabafita Community Association FC 2-0 in a game final, played at the Brikama Mini Stadium. Jamisa Community Association FC opened the score-sheet through striker Jim Hardem in the 8th minute from a brilliant long range shoot. Moments later Jamisa Community Association FC found themselves 2-0 ahead in the 37th minute when striker Jim Hardem scored from a goal mouth scramble as he registered his second goal of the game, dashing Kabafita Community Association hope’s of coming back to their feet, thus the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Jamisa Community Association FC. In the resumption of the second half, Kabafita Community Association FC who were struggling in the first 45th minute of the game regrouped and then launched a series of counter attacks in their opponents’ half. They also created lots of scoring opportunities, but had failed to capitalise on their chances. In the 56 and 65th minute, Kabafita Community Association FC came closed to level the scores when they got penalty, but those penalties were squandered away by striker Malign Sillah and Seedy Fofana. In the 76th minute, Kabafita Community Association FC were reduced to ten-man team, when midfielder Alagie Yarboe was sent out for rough play, and thus the game ended 2-0 in favour of Jamisa Community Association FC. The champions, Jamisa Community Association FC were awarded the championship trophy, and a cash prize of D5000, whilst Kabafita Community Association FC received D300 as runners-up.
