Lamin Fadara, an Immigration Officer attached to Darsilameh Immigration post recently testified at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court in the trial of one Muhammeh Kanneh, a Liberian national for allegedly forging Gambian bank notes, US Dollar and CFA notes.
In his testimony, officer Fadara told the court that on the 10th June 2009, while on duty at Dasilameh Immigration post clearing passengers out of the Gambia he came across the Muhammeh Kanneh. He said it was stated in the accused documents that he should stay for 30 days in Gambia, but instead he overstayed.
He said the accused was in the country from the 19th March to 10th June 2009, and when asked why he overstayed, he replied that he had financial constraints. He added that there the accused was arrested and taken to their office and during investigation, the accused was found in possession of $20, CFA and D100 Gambian notes which were suspected to have been forged.
The case was adjourned to 29th July 2009.
