Man charged with Causing Death, othersWednesday, April 22, 2009
One Frances Uzoka was on Monday arraigned before principal Magistrate Sainabou Wadda – Ceesay on three counts of rash and negligent driving causing death, and unlicensed driving. According to the particulars of the offence on count one, the accused Francis Uzoka on or about the 5th of April 2009 at Kairaba Avenue (opposite St. Therese’s) in the KSMD, drove a motor vehicle with registration number BJL 7996 E Volkswagen van in a negligent manner thereby causing the death of one Minkailu Tunde Cole. On Count Two, at the same place and date, he drove a motor vehicle reg. No BJL 7996 E Volkswagen van and involved in a road accident by knocking down a pedestrian of which he failed to stop. On Count Three, the accused drove a motor vehicle reg. no BJL 7996 E Volkswagon van without valid driving licence. Meanwhile, the accused did not take his plea on the ground that he would like the services of a lawyer. The presiding Magistrate Sainabou Wadda Ceesay however granted the accused person bail in the sum of D300, 000 with two Gambian sureties with title deed. Author: Sainey M.K. Marenah
