Monday, February 9, 2009
MagistratePa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Sarjo Camara of Brikama to a fine of D1000 in default to serve nine months imprisonment.

The verdict follows the accused’s change of plea from not guilty to guilty, for stealing a motor bike.

Mr Camara in his plea of mitigation begged the court to temper justice with mercy as he is married with two wives and children.

According to Magistrate Jammeh, the convict had no right to go to the complainant’s compound at 2am and steal his property. He added that it was an unlawful act to steal no matter the circumstances. He warned the convict that if he ever appears before him again he would send him for a long time.
