The people of Jokadou Constituency in the North Bank Region, spearheaded by Hon. Kebba Gaye, National Assembly member for the area and Chief Jim Fatma Jobe of Jokadou, recently harvested the eight farms of millet and sesame belonging to Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh.

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Hon. Kebba Gaye, said the people of his constituency cultivated the eight farms in response to the president’s back-to-the-land call.  He revealed that the proceeds from these farms will be presented to President Jammeh after threshing and bagging the farm produce.

"After the harvesting, we got about 19 bags of millet (the 60kgs bags) and also more than 1.2 tons of sesame from the 4 hectares of sesame farms" Hon. Gaye remarked. He described the initiative as the first of its kind in the history of Jokadou’s respond to President Jammeh’s back-to-the-land call.

He then observed that the proceeds of these farms, will be ploughed back to Gambians, adding that the president is heavily investing in to the health, education and agricultural sectors of the country for the benefit of all Gambians.

He commended the people of Jokadou, especially the women and youths for their hard work in the cultivation and harvesting of the president’s farms. He also commended President Jammeh for his support, care and concern for the welfare of all Gambians and wished him a happy New Year.
