Real de Banjul club manager, Sheriff Sanyang, who led club’s youth team to a week-long Under 17 tournament in Senegal has revealed that the Dakar event could be the best avenue for his youngsters to impress scores of scouts that have arrived to witness the tournament.
Speaking to Observer Sports from his Dakar camp yesterday, Sheriff Sanyang said the tournament was much bigger than he first expected. “There are eight teams taking part in the tournament. We have teams from Senegal, Guinea and Mali, and we have lot of scouts who are here to search for raw talents,” he said.
The Real de Banjul side, who were expected to open their group account against a Mauritanian side last night, will return to action today with a clash against Jambar FC of Senegal. Sanyang said the the final of the competition is fixed for Sunday, April 5, at the Leopard Sedat Senghore stadium Dakar.
