Tallinding United Outclass Gamtel

Monday, March 2, 2009

The Talliding United side opened their 2008/9 GFA league campaign with a record 4-2 defeat over Gamtel during week three encounters over the weekend in Manjai.

The team’s formidable force, the strikers, mounted a strong attack on Gamtel’s defense and in the 20th minute Edrissa Jarjue gave his side the lead after releasing a long range shot that flew over Gamtel’s keeper Christopher Allen.

Gamtel leveled the score in the 43rd minute when Alhaji Amadou Ngum converted a penalty following a very unsporting tackle by Tallinding United’s keeper Baboucarr Jallow.

Tallinding came back in the 51st, 76th and 88th minutes through Kawsu Sanneh and substitutes Amadou Gibba and David Gomez respectively.

Gamtel’s second was recorded in the 77th minute following an error on Tallinding’s keeper.  Gamtel’s strong man, Sarjo Janko, also received his marching orders in the 87th minute.

Alagie Nyassi, head coach of Tallinding United in a post match interview with Pointsports, pointed out that the team had proper planning that is why they have improved on their goal scoring mechanism.

The team, which is currently in its second appearance in the first division, is also working on staying in the first division league. Coach Nyassi is of the belief that, through hard work their ambition will be attainable.

Tallinding is now at four points along with Gamtel.

Elsewhere the same day, Samger defeated Real 2-0 increasing their points to 7. Lamin Samateh and Aziz Mendy scored in their crucial win in Brikama leaving Real with a single point so far.
