The Gambia Health and Educational Promotion Donates to RVTHFriday, April 17, 2009
The Gambia Health and Educational Promotion yesterday on Wednesday 15th April donated bed nets to the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital. The association which is formed by Gambians based in England aims to advance education by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education in schools and sponsor pupils and to promote and preserve good health by increasing awareness of, and providing culturally appropriate health services for HIV/AIDS. It also aims at providing financial assistance, supporting education and practical advice in relation to health generally for Gambians back home. Mr. Chama Jeng a drummer who has been with the association in England during fundraising events said that he is proud to be a member of the charity, since it’s aim is to help fellow Gambians.
The Public Relations Officer of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital, Baboucarr Ngum said that the donation couldn’t come at a more needy time. ‘I will reserve this for the private block, where people pay for our services and the money in turn used to benefit the hospital,’ he revealed.
