Theft at Gam Petroleum Security guard testifies

Samba Jallow, a personnel of the Group 4 Security Company, yesterday testified in the ongoing theft case involving one Sering Bai Mass Ceesay before the Banjul Magistrate court.

Testifying before Senior Magistrate Lamin George, Samba Jallow informed the court that he lives in Latrikunda Piccadilly. According to him he was on duty at Gam Petroleum Company when the incident took place.  He said we went on patrol around 4:00 am. According to him, he met three boys behind the emergency gate of the company stealing engine oil.  

He added that he was told by them that they were assigned by someone to steal.  He further said that he then invited them to come with him to the front door of the company to clarify the issue but at that juncture two of them took to their heels and jumped over the fence.  According to him, he then grabbed hold of the accused (Sering) with 20 litres of engine oil.

He added that his boss (one Sheriff) then called their officer to report the matter. He said one Joseph Jarjue from their office and he took the accused to Banjul Police Station. He added that they handed over the accused with the engine oil to the police before writing down their statements. After his testimony, Police Prosecutor Yusupha Daffeh told the court that the prosecution had closed his case.

Magistrate George then adjourned the case to Tuesday January 27th for the defence to open its case.
