Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates Court yesterday convicted one Abdoulie John, for stealing two motor batteries valued at D5000.

The properties belong to one Amadou Jallow of Wellingara. When the charge sheet was read to him, he pleaded guilty. Subsequently, he was sentenced to a fine of D5000, in default to serve 6 months with hard labour.

According to Sergeant Jammeh, the accused on January 4, went to the compound of the complainant, Amadou Jallow, around 5 am and stole the said batteries but ran out of luck as he was seen by an ‘apprentice’.

The apprentice raised the alarm and the accused was caught and taken to the Wellingara Police Station where he was charged.
