Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and secretary of state for Women's Affairs, yesterday received in audience the Sarahuleh Youth Development Organisation (SYDO) at her office at State House, Banjul.

Speaking to journalists shortly after having audience with the vice president, Alhagie Banta Jaiteh, secretary general of SYDO, said their mission to the State House was meant to officially introduce to her their organisation, its activities and plans to collaborate with the APRC party. According to Jaiteh, SYDO also intends to set up skills centres and other job opportunities for Gambian youths. His organisation, he added, will also be very instrumental in encouraging investors to invest in The Gambia.

In a similar engagement, Vice President Njie-Saidy received in audience Malick Nyan, a young Gambian writer. Nyan told the journalists that his visit to the vice president’s office was meant to present to her his two books, titled “The Gambia, dates and events from the iron age to the present day, and “Africa cultivated the Western world”. Nyan told pressmen that he would also like to seek the government’s support to enable him to print more of these books.
