The Chairman of Operation No Back-way to Europe, Mr. Bubacarr Jabbi, has asserted that the main objective of his Association is to discourage youths not to go by the back-way to Europe following the uncountable numbers of disasters during their sailing to Europe.

Mr. Jabbi was speaking in an exclusive interview with this reporter in Banjul. He pointed out that his Association also used to focus on sentising, on the use of drugs and other harmful practices in the country. He said the Association was formed since August 2008 with the help of the Gambia Government especially the president who has placed emphasis on empowering the youths in the country.

He said the Association is working hand in hand with the Immigration Department and the Gambia Police Force in fighting against the illegal migration. “The Association is also having some constraints concerning transportation which has effect on our operational cost”, he said.  We believe in action and therefore urged the other relevant stakeholders to come to their aid in order to inform on the implications of illegal migration, he concluded.
