The Integrated Coastal and Marine Biodiversity project (ICAM) under the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management (DPWM) on 30 October held a one-day seminar on sea turtles at the Tango office in Bakau.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr Kotu Cham, Permanent Secretary, Department of State for Forestry and Environment, stressed the need for the proper management and sustainability of turtles in the country.
Whilst advising the participants to take the workshop seriously, Mr Cham emphasised the importance his office attaches to sustainable management of the country’s coastal resources.
For his part, Mr Alimamy Camara, Director of DPWM, stressed also the need for the protection of turtles in the country.
Presentations were also delivered by Lucy Hawkes and Mathew J. Witt from the University of Comwall, UK.
Mr Ousainou Touray, project coordinator of DPWM, chaired the opening ceremony.
