Lack of concentration caused our defeat...Coach Alhagi Sarr

Thursday, September 21, 2006
Coach Alhagi Sarr, who led Gambia to a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Senegal in the first leg of CAf U-17 Championship has owed his sorrowful defeat to lack of concentration from his young and inexperience players. Coach Sarr said his team’s performance was not bad at all, adding “they had their chances and failed to capitalise and Senegalese had theirs and they scored.”

The embattled coach made these remarks in an interview with Observer Sports, shortly after Saturday’s game at the Independence Stadium, Bakau. Sarr, who stared in disbelief shortly after the game said: “I know it is hard to play a lose game at home. But the game was not bad, except that my boys lost concentration in the second half of the match, which was too bad for us. I had really wanted to win this encounter.”
