The first draw in the “Vote For you Darling U-20 Player” was held on Monday at President Jammeh’s Joint Officers Mess at Kotu.

The maiden draw saw lucrative prizes awarded to different winners who have sent sms messages to choose their darling player in the past week. Some of attendees at the Monday draw also joyously walked away with prizes ranging from cell phones to DVD players after their seat numbers were raffled to identify winners.

Speaking at the gathering, Col Lang Tombong Tamba, First Vice President of the Gambia Football Association and Chairman of the Marketing Committee - the brainchild of the initiative - said the draw will be held every Monday at the same venue where different prizes will be awarded to lucky winners. He called on the general public to continue calling or sending text messages to 105 to stand a bright chance of winning different prizes, including three air tickets to Canada 2007 World Cup.

He said all Gamtel, Gamcel and Africell subscribers all over the country can either call or send text messages to 105 and choose their darling U-20 players from the list of 24. By doing so, he said, the participants can win prizes during the weekly raffle draw and air tickets during the grand raffle draw in June. According to him, any fund generated from the initiative will used to fund the Gambia U-20 to Canada finals.
