Clear waters-The Gambia, a charitable organisation based in Manchester, the UK, recently donated medical equipment worth thousands of pound sterling to various clinics across the country.
Among the beneficiaries are Essau/ Barra Health Centre, Gunjur, Serrekunda, Tallinding, Bijilo and Basse Health centres; Bansang Hospital, Family Planning- Kanifing, and Foundation for Research on Women’s Health, Productivity and the Environment (BAFROW).
In his remarks at the handing over ceremony held at the office of BAFROW in Mandinaba in Kombo East, Mr. Michael Faal of Clear Waters-The Gambia reiterated his organisation’s commitment to work towards the development of The Gambia.
He revealed that the items were collected by nurses in the UK, such as Julie, Annie and Francis, for use in The Gambia and expressed hope that the materials donated will boost the service delivery of the recipients.
According to Mr. Faal, Clear Waters -The Gambia had embarked on many projects in The Gambia, which include The Children Playground and a new stand pipe area at Old Cape Road in Bakau.
He added that they are presently constructing a borehole and an irrigation system at the Bakau Community Vegetable Garden, as well as fencing it.
For her part, Mrs. Fatou Waggeh, the Director of BAFROW, commended Clear Waters –The Gambia and those who collected the equipment, for their support to Gambians. She also called on others to emulate Clear Waters –The Gambia.
In brief remarks, Dr Hassan Azadeh, the Clinical Director of BAFROW, said the donation could not have come at a better time, adding that the donated items will enable the beneficiaries to deliver efficient and diligent service to the people.
“BAFROW aims among other things to provide the rightly deserved healthcare in relation to all aspects of preserving and protecting the health of the public, in particular women and children,” he said.
He called on the public to take advantage of the clinic by going there to receive treatment.
Mrs. Yasin Sampo Ceesay, the Programme Manager of BAFROW, spoke also on the occasion.
