“Everybody is in camp and we are very much prepared and focused. This game is synonymous with a final and we are all working very hard in order to fetch the desired result on Sunday,” Edi said to Observer Sports at the training ground yesterday.
The former Real de Banjul and Roda JC ace also expressed satisfaction with the youthfulness of the squad.
“We have young ones who undisputedly have the potentials to raise the standard of the team. I have seen some of them in the Under-20 team and their performances were magnificent. I am happy that the youngsters are being given the chance to prove themselves”.
Sonko, Gambia’s only player plying his trade in the English First Division league also appealed to the general public to come and support the Scorpions on Sunday.
“We know we can always count on the support of Gambians. We have seen their support before and I want them to come out in their numbers on Sunday to throw their weight behind the team.”
Commenting on his recent move to England, Edi said: “I thank God for giving me the opportunity to play in England. It has always been my dream to play in England and I thank God that it turned into a dream come true. I will also thank my fellow Gambians for their support in realising this dream. And I hope to make my England presence felt.”
