This year’s National Youth Conference and Festival better known, as Nayconf would be incorporating more sporting activities than last edition held in Banjul in 2004.
According to the Concept Paper for Nayconf 2006 published by the Gambia National Youth Council [NYC] 10 sporting disciplines would be competed in Brikama.
The 10 sporting component are Ludo [Female], Cards [Male], Scrabble [Male], Draughts [Male], Football [Male], Athletics [Male & Female], Basketball [Male &Female], Handball [Male &Female] Volleyball [Male & Female] and Wrestling.
The Concept Paper pointed out that each Region or Municipality shall provide a team for all these respective sporting activities.
Winners in all the categories shall be awarded with trophies and cash prize.
The Paper added that the sporting component is quite pertinent, as it will help to spot out young talents, which can be developed into professional careers.
They added that the National Sports Council would take the lead role in the co-ordination of all sporting activities during the Nayconf.
