Papa Sarr Corr, an official of the Banjul giants said their move to start the pre-season campaign earlier is meant to scout as many youngsters as possible in a bid to consolidate the strength of the team ahead of the next league season which is due in December.
He said: “We’re starting things in the earnest so as to prepare a better side. Against this background, we are inviting every interested player who wishes to play for the team to join us at our training grounds at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.” Papa Sarr said a proper scrutiny will follow in order to select a befitting team for the up-coming league season.
Real de Banjul’s performance in the last league season was characterised with ups-and-downs that also showed their head coach, Ebou Faye, resigning in the mid-season owing to their dazzling start. However, the coming of the likes of Saja Leigh from Sait Matty and the solo effort of their versatile skipper, Pa Landing Conateh undoubtedly injected fresh legs to the side in the second-round fixtures which landed them 6th position at the end mark after spending most of the first-round in the relegation zone.
